11 Things We Loved from FW24
Our fashion Valentine. The moments that made our hearts beat faster from our Monday night show at the New York Public Library. Plus, book recs from the front row.
After our Fall/Winter 2024 show on Monday night, we’ve had a moment to process. Here, the 11 things that made us think, swoon, cheer and, most importantly, want to shop. Let us know in the comments if we missed any of your personal fave moments or looks.
Engineered from the inside-out with bonded seams, these chic square-hem skirts propose a new idea while flattering the body and functioning beautifully. They’re paper-light and fold perfectly flat to pack like a dream. More heart-eyes to the fantastic color combinations with these sleek hooded jerseys.
Could this be the tote of our dreams? One of our signatures, the Lee Radziwill Double Bag was flattened into a beautifully made shopper. Bonus: it folds in half to carry on your shoulder or crossbody.
The story of Pierced continues. Our beloved mule has grown into a ladylike pump, with a silver swoop of hardware making its way across the toe. The pump’s seamless crescent-shaped heel maintains the style’s original surrealist cred.
The Coat: The cinched-waist tweed coat from FW23 because a great coat lasts well beyond a single season. (PS: It’s on sale, and there are still sizes.)
The Earrings: A fluted front-to-back spike, also worn on the FW24 runway.
The Bag: The new Lee Radziwill shopper, our favorite FW24 bag.
The Shoe: The new FW24 Pierced Pump, which looks fantastic in the real world.
Many looks in the collection blurred the line between night and day. The glittery tinsel fringe, however, is decidedly in the after-eight party camp. Light as air and even more beautiful when dancing.
The perfect complements to the collection’s experimental lines, techniques and textures: Matrix-adjacent sunglasses and elegant resin dome earrings punked out with metal studs.
Tory found inspiration in the things we overlook, i.e. the humble shower cap. The resulting dresses, however, are about as far as you can get from a disposable hotel freebie — intricately smocked and printed with polka dots, clovers and bows in a way that’s more cool than cloying.
The practical fashion heads out there will always scan a fall/winter collection for its best coats. Guilty as charged. We will be watching the New Arrivals tab come fall for this trio: a double-breasted chocolate beauty in impeccably tailored stretch wool; a cotton and mohair overcoat with a curiously compelling spiky (yet soft) texture; and an perfectly-cut oversize trench to throw over everything and go.
And we’re happy to see it. Because time is a flat circle when it comes to trends, and because Alexa Chung said so on TikTok.
It might have taken you a moment to fully register the beauty on the runway. The models’ flawlessly dewy faces and sleek side parts were most noticeable at first glance, but we loved the way the dark navy acrylics (Essie’s Caviar Bar) and extra-long, whip-like braids slowly made their presence known as you watched the show.
"It's one of my favorite words, but people don't use it that much," said Tory backstage. She's bringing it back — transforming it into a scrolling script motif. In addition to a full look (matching jacquard shell, skirt, handbag) many models were styled with printed tights. Because we could all use a bit more sublime in our lives.
