11 Things We Loved from SS25
Dive in for our recap! Tory explores the 'essence of sport,' Pierced as a bag, alien earrings, Alexa Chung's NYFW debut – and more!
We’ve finally dried off from our Spring/Summer 2025 runway show, staged last night on a pool-themed runway in the glass-domed Skylight at the Refinery, housed in the iconic former Domino Sugar Factory. There was quite a bit to love — and a lot to buy for the season ahead. Here, we break down the best pieces and moments.
Tory’s starting point — the ‘essence of sport’ — played out beautifully in racerback maillots thickly flocked with sequins, paired with louche cotton trousers that borrowed inspiration from martial arts. The sequined swimsuit is one of those pieces that seems odd at first but then becomes the most versatile thing in your wardrobe.
The evening’s venue was temporarily transformed with a backdrop of dappled aqua-green pool tile, which shimmered in the golden hour sun. The effect was magical, if we do say so ourselves.
Tory loves a touch of weirdness in the mix, and so do we. Especially the alien heads that cleverly subverted the romance of delicately enameled chandelier earrings, seen above on Vittoria Ceretti, Alexa Chung and Lina Zhang. There were yet more aliens hidden among the country scenes of the toile de jouy — an original print — of the pencil skirt in look 10. Have a closer look and tell us if you see them!
The lush red. The delicately geometric fil coupé. The undoneness of the robe-like dress with a flash of skin. The wristlet’s densely beaded koi and spill of silk fringe. It all comes together in an exquisite shrug of beauty. 10/10, no notes!
The Sunglasses: The translucent-lensed wraparounds from the SS25 runway.
The Shirt: Drapey and slightly sheer, our viscose shirt with elongated cuffs.
The Necklace: A antique bracelet, worn as a necklace, with old mine-cut diamonds.
The Pants: Wide-leg trousers from Resort 2025.
The Shoes: The Pierced pump from FW24.
And what a bag it is. Beautifully crafted in bonded Italian leather as a slim, flat oval, with just the signature ring of (removable and eventually interchangeable) hardware piercing the bag’s sleek geometry.
The T Monogram Cinematic Universe expanded on the runway with a new comic book-style take on the monogram – a graphic Double T medallion that looks hashed and hand-drawn. It was featured in the new soft Balloon bag.
There was a time when very leggy pants roamed New York City. An era when fashion editors exclusively wore high heels and used them to create the illusion of mile-long legs with a hemline that broke over the toe. The lanky trousers on the runway recalled those high-waisted and lean (but not skinny!) styles. They came in flecked wool with a beautiful drape (above, right) and a very textural quilted cotton that look particularly great with a sheer poet blouse (above, left).
The Reva ballet flat was a footwear phenomenon right out of the gate when it launched in 2006. While cool girls like Liana Satenstein have been pushing an underground revival for a few seasons, mid-aughts nostalgia is currently peaking. The timing may be perfect for the return of Reva, worn on the runway with slouchy, floor-brushing pants.
It’s a testament to her timeless style and inimitable wit that Alexa Chung is eternally an It Girl. In the original, not-overused definition. It was a special thrill that she made her NYFW debut on our runway.
The shoe of choice for some of the chicest showgoers, from above left, (G)I-dle’s YuQi, Michelle Williams, Jodie Turner-Smith, Elizabeth Olsen and Mindy Kaling, as well as Tory, the new Pierced pump from the FW24 collection. This A-list crew proved that it looks fab with a wide range of hemlines and silhouettes, though we are partial to the slouchy trouser that plays peekaboo with the swoop of hardware. Their choice of handbag was also unanimous, the Lee Radziwill Shopper and Double bag.
Speaking of sports, we asked the front row…
Yes, September is about fashion month, and processing big new ideas about what we’ll be wearing next year. However, it’s also a moment to inject some newness into our current wardrobes. If you liked the ready-to-wear on last season’s runway, you should know that a big chunk of it is already available. The front row’s accessories of choice: the Pierced pump and Lee Radziwill bags are also live on our site.
The genius of the pierced bag that can be removed and we can get additional jewelry accessories for is mind blowing and so unique to each person. I will also be the first in line for that lovely soft balloon bag. So fab!
